Two days, hands on, in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast. You will mix, trowel and finish the Decora system yourself, taught by Carlos, who has been applying Microcement and Venetian plaster on real jobs since 2009.

What the Microcement and Venetian plaster course covers

Most training teaches you the theory and sends you home. This is a working course. You spend both days with product in your hands.

Day one, Microcement. Substrate assessment and preparation, which primer suits which surface, mixing the two-part system correctly, base coats, building the finish, sanding between coats, and sealer selection for floors, walls and wet areas.

Day two, Venetian plaster. Lime finishes and how they differ from cement, priming painted and rendered walls, layering and burnishing technique, achieving depth and sheen, waxing and sealing, and how to hold consistency across a large wall.

You will also cover the things that go wrong. Why finishes fail, what causes adhesion problems, how to read a substrate that is going to give you trouble, and how to price a job so it is worth doing.

Who should do this applicator training

Applicators adding Microcement or Venetian plaster to what they already offer. Builders and renovators who want to bring the work in house. Designers who specify these finishes and want to understand what they are asking for. Homeowners tackling a serious project.

No prior experience with these systems is required. A trade background helps but is not essential.
